lite-on technology corporation property of lite-on only part no. : ltst-c193nbkt-5a page : 8 of 10 cautions 1. application the leds described here are intended to be used fo r ordinary electronic equipm ent (such as office equipm ent, com m unication equipm ent and household applications).consult liteon?s sales in advance f o r inf o rm ation on applications in which exceptional reliability is required, particularly when the f a ilure or m a lfunction of the leds m a y directly jeopardize lif e or health (such as in aviation, transportation, traffic control equipm ent, m e dical and life support system s and safety devices). 2. storage the storage am bient for the leds should not exceed 30c tem p erature or 70% relative hum idity. it is recom m e nded that leds out of their origin al packaging are ir-reflowed within one week. for extended storage out of their original packaging, it is recom m e nded that the leds be stored in a sealed container with appropriate desiccant, or in a desiccators with nitrogen am bient. leds stored out of their original packaging for m o re than a week should be baked at about 60 deg c for at least 24 hours before solder assem b ly. 3. cleaning use alcohol-based cleaning solvents such as isopropyl alcohol to clean the led if necessary. 4. soldering  recom m e nded soldering conditions: reflow soldering w a ve soldering soldering iron pre-heat pre-heat tim e peak tem p erature s o l d e r i n g t i m e 120~150c 120 sec. max. 240c max. 10 sec. max. pre-heat pre-heat tim e solder wave soldering tim e 100c max. 60 sec. max. 260c max. 10 sec. max. tem p erature soldering tim e 300c max. 3 sec. max. (b) the brightness of each led m i ght appear different due to the differences in the i-v characteristics of those leds.  6. esd (electrostatic discharge) static electricity or power surge will dam a ge the led. suggestions to prevent esd dam a ge: ? use of a conductive wrist band or anti-electrostatic glove when handling these leds. ? all devices, equipm ent, and m achinery m u st be properly grounded. ? w o rk tables, storage racks, etc. should be properly grounded. ? use ion blower to neutralize the static charge which m i ght have built up on surf ace of the led?s plastic lens as a result of friction between leds during storage and handling. bns-od-c131/a4
